“Without labor, some of us wouldn’t be here.” ~ Kim Considine

I don’t know why anyone ever complains about ironing.

You just have to start with the desire to look nice, then throw your items into the wash on whatever setting the machine is already set to.

Next, remember to be nearby when it’s finished – within 24 hours is key, if not – rewash.

Hopefully, you remember to check when it’s done but nobody’s perfect. You’re doing great, you’re ironing. Pat yourself on the back no matter how many times you have to wash and rewash. Whenever you get to the point that the clothes are clean and reasonably wet and you’re around and you’ve remembered to check on them, toss it all into the dryer for as long as it takes.

I know it sounds ridiculous – so does an ironing board when you open it.

Some items may not come out the same size so wear those when you are feeling most confident. Certain clothes may not appear completely pressed. Just make sure you use your crossbody messenger bag the day you wear them and blame it on that. Now, from time to time, you will be stunned at how wrinkly a lot of the shirts, skirts, pants, socks, pillowcases, and everything linen will still look. So throw those rejects into a pile and hang on to them until someone owes you a favor.

That’s it!

I’m ironing right now, I think…

This message is not intended for those who actually iron my clothing.

Happy Labor-less Weekend!
