A fish in it?

Waiter, waiter! I say, do tell me what’s swimming around in my glass of water.

Is the cook trying to achieve maximum productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense by combining my dinner and beverage, or is he off his rocker again? Do tell …

~ The Mosquito Movement: I said … I like citronella.

~ Ode to Citronella

I’m just a tiny little fella

One of the millions and millions of flies that sting

I bite, yes, but that’s not rare

What is, is that I care

About my wife, Stella,

That’s no secret

But what is, is

My adoration and love

For the smell of anything Citronella

I’m addicted to it

Repel me not, smother me instead

Cover your homes and surroundings

You will not find me dead, you have been misled

Nay, I say, I’ll visit more often, perhaps I’ll move in

Create the mood … go on

Light your candles, burn your incense, spray yourselves

I’ll stick around longer, linger, and bite harder

Sure, I’ve tried to hate it, was told it could kill, but still

Alas, the herbs penetrate

Uplift my spirits, strengthen my wings and increase my appetite

For human blood

Munching, sucking, crunching

Your attempts on me, a dud

Oh, but I must dampen the excite

For fear that it will become well-known

Citronella’s not working

You’ll all stop spraying and covering everything you own

I must keep this to myself, pretend to fear

The smell that I love so dear

Erase what you’ve read and instead picture me with dread

Or even better yet, dead

Lying with Stella

In a big bath of yella

Citronella

I’ll have the catch of the day, please.
